The conference Urban Thinking: Sustainable Cities, organised by Distrito Castellana Norte in collaboration with Impact Hub, created a space to reflect on environmental sustainability in the city.
Some of the question posed before the citizen discussion were: What is an environmentally sustainable city? How can environmental sustainability be promoted through citizen participation? How can we generate spaces for participation in environmental sustainability projects?
Over the course of the day, topics such as energy efficiency in cities, sustainable mobility, urban garden systems in cities, as well as the recovery of yards, landscaping and citizen science were discussed. Participation tools such as Spark Up were used to find out which issues participants were most concerned with in terms of the city’s environment, with important findings such as the importance of air quality and public transportation for citizens.
